Advice on travelling to Waterford
Waterford is well serviced by public transport and an excellent motorway connection to Dublin.
By Air and Sea
Unfortunately Waterford Airport doesn’t have passenger services at present. International visitors can fly to Cork or Dublin and avail of public transport to get to Waterford.
Ferry services from Britain.
Irish Ferries and Stena run services from Holyhead to Dublin (Dun Laoghaire or Dublin Port) and from Pembroke to Rosslare and Fishguard to Rosslare.
By Car
Dublin to Waterford takes approximately 2 hours by the M7/M9 motorways.
From south Dublin it may be preferable to take the M11 turning at Enniscorthy for New Ross and on to Waterford.
Cork to Waterford via N25 is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes
Limerick to Waterford via N24 is approximately 2 hours
Waterford is 1 hour 10 minute drive from ferry terminal at Rosslare
By Public Transport
How about travelling by public transport? Leave the driving to someone else; relax and enjoy the mid-summer scenery or use the wifi. You won’t need a car in Waterford as all the attractions are within walking distance and there will be a coach transfer to Lismore.
Rail
There is a frequent service from Dublin Heuston – Waterford Plunkett Station. Journey duration 2 hours.
Bus
Bus Eireann Expressway goes from Dublin Airport and Busaras via Carlow to Waterford. There are also Expressway routes from Cork and Limerick.
Kavanagh’s Bus runs a regular service from Waterford to Dublin. Stopping at Dublin Airport, Eden Quay, Heuston Station, Red Cow Luas park and ride.
Dublin Coach runs a service from Dublin Airport via Waterford to Cork and return. This service can be picked up on Patrick’s Quay in Cork and in Dublin on Bachelor’s Walk and Red Cow Luas.
