Jackie Gorman

Jackie Gorman is a poet from Athlone whose work has been published in a number of publications, including The Honest Ulsterman, Poetry Ireland Review, The Sow’s Ear Poetry Review, The Lonely Crowd, and Obsessed With Pipework. She was runner-up in the Waterford Poetry Prize 2025.

She won the Listowel Writers Week Single Poem Award for her poem The Blue Hare in 2017, and her work was included in the 25th Anniversary Edition of the Windows Anthology.

When she is not writing poems, Jackie is the CEO of Midlands Science, an organisation which promotes STEM education in the region through various events, activities, and also a regional festival. She is passionate about science communcation and engagement, and received the Science Foundation Ireland Outstanding Contribution to STEM Communication Award in 2022.

Jackie is a graduate of TUS, DCU, and NUIG in Business, Literature, and Community Development. She also has an MA in Poetry Studies from Dublin City University and was a part of the Poetry Ireland 2017 Introductions Series.
