
Dr Lorraine Bowman-Grieve is a lecturer in Psychology at the South East Technological University (SETU) in Waterford, as part of both the Analysing Social Change Research Group and the Crime and Justice Research Group. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from University College Cork, her Master’s degree from the University of Kent, and subsequently her PhD also from University College Cork.
She has previously worked at University College Cork, Leeds Trinity University College, and University of Lincoln.
She has published several articles about the concept of cyberterrorism, right-wing extremism, as well as Irish Republicanism. In line with this, she also maintains a keen interest in understanding the nature, content, and function of extremist discourses online.
She is interested in the application of social psychology to understanding the behaviours and different phenomena pertaining to terrorism and counter-terrorism, as well as the variety of ethical issues which accompany such type of research. She has authored several peer-reviewed articles as well as four book chapters on these topics.
